Resting on perfectly crafted solid oak plinths and elegant bun feet, these pieces have balanced proportions and a distinctive aesthetic that exudes a refined rustic charm.

Description

Beautifully restored by our experienced team in our West Sussex studio, each wardrobe was carefully dismantled and hand-stripped before fully repairing any small defects acquired over time. The wardrobes were then carefully reassembled, ensuring perfect functionality without losing any of their history or character.

The distinctive rattan weave on the door panels was handwoven from 100% rattan cane in a remarkable cross pattern, accentuated by a darker variety of cane, and treated only with natural oils to ensure durability and a naturally finished look. The open-style weave is not only visually striking but also offers exceptional breathability, making these wardrobes perfect for storing fabrics for long periods of time.

The original pieces are made with a stunning mix of quarter-sawn and crown-cut oak that has aged beautifully and complements the complexity of our signature blend #21. We finished the exterior by adding a set of solid brushed brass knobs that match immaculately with the gorgeous and practical hanging rail on the interior.

Handwoven Rattan Doors

Each door is adorned with four panels of the most beautiful rattan cane, featuring a remarkable weave that intertwines different varieties of cane to create a unique crossed effect. The panels are installed by hand within a solid oak frame and finished with natural linseed oil, creating a distinctive effect that is both beautiful on the outside and inside.

Aged Oak Construction

Dating back to the early 20th-century, these pieces feature a beautiful oak construction that incorporates both crown-cut and quarter-sawn timber. The wood has matured over the decades, developing a deep, rich patina that speaks to its authenticity and age. The interplay between the grain patterns and the natural aging process has created a texture and warmth reminiscent of gingerbread, further enhanced by our Blend #21 finish.

Solid Brass Hardware

Both interior hanging rail and exterior knobs are made from solid brushed brass and feature timeles design that blends perfectly with the piece’s antique character and feel remarkably esquisit to the touxh. Solid brass hardware is not only surable but eill also patina over time creating an inimitable hue that will improve on this piece’s aesthetic pver time

The original craftsman's design creates a perfectly balanced proportion that supports the entire structure of each wardrobe on a carefully crafted and molded plinth, featuring hand-turned feet with classic lines and a beautiful, timeless aesthetic.
