Care and Maintenance

On this page, you will find essential care and maintenance tips for every material used in your Attica Studios pieces, ensuring their lasting beauty and durability

Wood & Veneers

If your piece has exposed wood surfaces, it’s likely that we finished it with Osmo Polyx Oil. This oil is great at protecting the wood from everyday household wear and tear like water and food stains.

However, wood is very sensitive to water so it’s crucial that if there are any spills or rings, to wipe away the water with a dry cloth as soon as possible as it might leave a stain.

It is safe to either vacuum or use a damp cloth to wipe away any debris or dust from the surface using Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner.

Marble

To care for marble, clean with a pH-neutral cleaner and apply a stone sealer regularly to protect against stains and moisture. Wipe up spills immediately, especially acidic ones, to prevent etching and avoid abrasive cleaners; instead, use a soft cloth or sponge.

For treating stubborn stains, blot the area and try placing a rag soaked in hydrogen peroxide on top for up to 8 hours and repeat as necessary, we have been successful in lifting stains in antique pieces using this technique.

If scratches or dull spots occur, professional polishing may be needed to restore shine.

Wicker, Rattan and Bamboo

To restore bamboo and cane weaves, only raw linseed oil should be used. This natural oil revives the material's golden brown color and provides strong wear resistance. The dried finish is water-repellent and can last for years with proper care. However, large water spills can affect durability; therefore, it's crucial to drain the liquid and dry the surface promptly.

Bamboo and rattan weaves are intricate and can easily trap debris and liquids, making them vulnerable to permanent stains from food, sugary drinks, nail polish, or ink. Immediate cleaning is crucial.

Paint

We use exclusively high quality, low VOC, water based paints and varnishes that are washable and scrubbable. Simply wipe the painted surface clean with a damp cloth.

Your piece was also, primed with a high quality primer so it should have excellent resistance to every day use.
