The Sintra Bobbin Writing Desk is made from solid wood using traditional joinery, with hand-turned bobbin legs and a wide, gently profiled worktop that celebrates the natural grain of the timber. Two dovetailed drawers are set on guided traditional wooden runners, fitted neatly beneath the surface to offer smooth, lasting function. Drawer fronts can be made with or without matching bobbin detail to add a subtle, textural touches that echo the base and add elegant character. The desk can be finished in any of our signature tones and is completed with timeless antique brass hardware.
Each desk is built to order in our West Sussex workshop by skilled craftspeople, using timber from trusted local suppliers who support sustainable forestry. The bobbin legs are turned in-house to ensure precision and consistency, and every element is carefully assembled using time-tested methods. Building the Drawers
Entirely solid, dovetailed boxes run on a timber-made system, designed to glide smoothly and last for generations. Their interiors are protected but not stained, allowing easy restoration and revealing the natural character of the wood.
Shaping the Details
From beads and mouldings to the turning of a leg, the finer elements are crafted by hand with care and precision. Each cut and curve carries subtle variations of touch, giving individuality to the piece and a richness that builds across its form, ensuring no two are ever quite the same.
