An antique oval giltwood mirror dating from the late nineteenth century, with a finely carved frame edged in beading and finished in soft, time-worn gilding. The original bevelled glass plate brings a subtle depth and softly refracts the light, giving the piece a refined presence. The pine backboards are also original and remain in good condition, a detail that suggests a likely Continental, possibly French, origin.
As part of the restoration process the mirror was fully cleaned, structurally checked and any small issues carefully addressed in our studio by an experienced restorer. The frame retains its natural patina and signs of age, which were preserved deliberately to reflect its history and maintain its authentic charm.
