Our Commitment

Behind every idea, every collection, every restoration, and every new venture, a carefully established set of principles guides our direction. On this page, you can discover everything from how we craft the pieces you see to how we are building our company.

"When you're a carpenter making a beautiful chest of drawers, you're not going to use a piece of plywood on the back, even though it faces the wall and nobody will ever see it. You'll know it's there, so you're going to use a beautiful piece of wood on the back. For you to sleep well at night, the aesthetic, the quality, has to be carried all the way through." - Steve Jobs

Our Approach To Design

We like to think about design differently. For us, great design starts with the careful selection of materials and the artistry that goes into crafting each piece. We have a deep appreciation for the naturally occurring patterns in wood grain, marble, ceramics, and other materials we use, as these unique textures are what make each product inherently distinctive. The natural variations in these materials ensure that no two pieces are ever exactly alike, adding an authentic, organic quality to our work. This uniqueness is further enhanced by the skilled hands and passion of our artisans, who bring these materials to life. Their craftsmanship imbues each design with character and warmth, creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind products that reflect the individuality of both the materials and the maker.

We like to blend charming antique furniture design elements with our signature wood tones and focusing on incorporating meaningful and distinctive features in a way that is both elegant and full of character. This approach allows us to seamlessly integrate traditional inspirations with modern lines and trends, resulting in pieces that are refined yet bold, celebrating both craftsmanship and the nature.

Our Approach To Restoration

The essence of every restoration begins with sourcing.

Our experienced team follows a rigorous process to ensure that each piece we select brings something special to the table.

The initial step in every restoration we undertake focuses on structural integrity. Many of our pieces are completely disassembled and rebuilt by skilled restorers who reinforce any weaknesses to extend the piece's longevity. This may involve replacing thin veneers with thick, solid timber boards or even breaking down the piece to replace weaker elements with more durable solutions.

This meticulous process ensures that the pieces are not only visually appealing but also structurally sound for years to come.

Following this, we explore creative possibilities, ranging from conservative finishes that modernise the piece to more adventurous modifications that add colour, texture, and new elements. This playful and versatile approach results in statement pieces that are both unique and characterful.

Our Approach To Manufacturing

Since our company's foundation, we've restored hundreds of pieces, gaining valuable insights that now guide our manufacturing. This experience allows us to understand how different materials and techniques age. This is what lead us to exclusively use solid timber in our collections. Not only for the beauty but for its durability, ease of repair, and ability to retain value and appearance over time. Every piece in the Attica Studios collection is crafted entirely from uniform, solid wood, whether it's oak, walnut, or another material, ensuring remarkable longevity and quality.

Our craftsmanship remains hands-on and authentic, with each piece carefully turned and built by skilled artisans using a blend of traditional and modern joinery techniques. This approach not only gives each piece unique character but also supports local artisans who have devoted their lives to the craft. By manufacturing all our pieces locally in the UK, we maintain a close connection between our creative team and production, fostering innovation and ensuring every iteration of our designs is meticulously crafted. Our commitment supports the local community and ensures that each piece is built to last, preserving its value and story through generations.

The Materials We Use

Our Timber

Timber stands as one of our most sustainable resources, growing freely and supporting life. When harvested responsibly, it naturally renews itself. The timber industry’s carbon footprint is often tied to transporting wood over long distances, we commit to reducing this impact by sourcing our timber locally from carefully managed British forests while supporting local businesses.

Our Stains

Our identity is deeply tied to the stains we use. We finish our pieces with modern compounds of wood oils and waxes, creating natural-looking, matte surfaces that enhance the wood grain's beauty and durability. Sourced from sustainable businesses that use solely renewable materials, our blends are developed in-house to achieve a tone unique to our company.

Our Paints

Our pieces often feature paint accents—ranging from gentle strokes that delicately highlight edges to rich colors that embrace entire surfaces. To achieve this, we carefully select only eco-friendly, water-based paints, crafted by sustainable businesses committed to quality and unique tones. These paints not only provide a lasting finish but also imbue each piece with a distinctive beauty.

Our Partnerships

We believe in fostering partnerships based on collaboration, quality, and shared values.

By working closely with craftsmen, suppliers, distributors and ambassadors who share our commitment to excellence and sustainability, we're able to create furniture that not only enhances the beauty and comfort of people's homes but also reflects our shared dedication to ethical sourcing and responsible corporate practices.

Together, we strive to make a positive impact on the furniture industry and the world around us.
