OUR STORY

We started Attica Studios in 2022, but the story began long before it had a name, when we moved into our first apartment together and began searching for pieces that would make it feel like home. We wanted furniture that carried meaning, that had depth and proportion, and that felt as if it had always belonged there. The more we looked, the more we found ourselves drawn to antique pieces, not only for their craftsmanship, but for their aesthetic, the quiet intelligence in how they were built, and the heritage behind the techniques that gave life to every small element. We began sourcing and restoring them, learning how design and joinery worked together to give them both strength and beauty. That curiosity became practice, and over time, a studio. When we opened our workshop in West Sussex, we worked with experienced restorers who shared our respect for the craft and helped us understand what makes a piece last, what makes it fail, and how much can be expressed through proportion and detail. Through restoration we discovered that innovation is often a form of rediscovery, that something we might think impossible today was often achieved beautifully centuries ago. That realisation shaped how we design, guiding us to inherit those same principles of integrity, beauty and purpose, and carry them forward into pieces made for today’s world.

Today, Attica Studios works across two spaces that live side by side: one dedicated to restoration, where our team carefully revives antiques for our store, and one for design and making, where our collection pieces are crafted by experienced makers who share our philosophy. Both remain deeply connected. Restoration offers the wisdom of the past, while design carries those lessons forward, creating furniture that reflects the same care and permanence with a focus on detail and individuality. Each piece is designed with purpose, balanced, refined and full of character that makes it memorable. The furniture we create is made to last for generations and to return to us when time leaves its mark, to be restored and cherished again. In this way, Attica remains a living cycle, honouring what came before, creating for what is to come, and ensuring that nothing made with care is ever lost.

OUR ETHOS & DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Our Approach To Design & Making

Our furniture is born from thoughtful design and precise making, shaped by honest materials and a commitment to enduring character. Each piece begins with a deep respect for the material and an understanding of how proportion and craftsmanship can bring it to life. We refine every design until it feels balanced and timeless, allowing its natural character to guide the process. The result is furniture that feels grounded and individual, made to grow more meaningful with time.

Our Approach To Restoration

Our restoration work is guided by respect for history and an understanding of craftsmanship. Each antique is studied, repaired and revived by experienced restorers in our West Sussex workshop, using traditional methods and carefully selected period materials. Every decision, from structural repair to the final finish, is made with patience and integrity, ensuring the piece regains its strength, beauty and purpose. The result is furniture that continues its story, ready to be lived with for generations to come.

Our Commitment To Sustainability

Sustainability, for us, begins with respect. Every material we use is chosen for its honesty, longevity and ability to be renewed. We work only with natural, responsibly sourced timbers and finishes that protect without concealing, allowing each piece to age beautifully and be restored over time. This same philosophy guides our restoration work, where we extend the life of existing furniture with care and precision, ensuring that the resources already taken from nature continue to serve for generations to come.

A Glimpse Into Our World

SLOW LIVING STORIES WITH HYDE & HARE

We were recently featured in the Slow Living Stories series by Hyde & Hare, a short film that offers an intimate glimpse into our shared world of craft and natural materials. It captures the rhythm of our days in the workshop, the textures of the timbers we work with, and the quiet philosophy that guides everything we make. Alongside Hyde & Hare’s beautifully crafted natural fibres, it reflects a shared belief in authenticity, in the beauty of what nature provides, and in the value of taking time to do things properly.

More than a behind-the-scenes film, it is an introduction to two crafts rooted in the same ideals. It tells a story of design, restoration, and material honesty, celebrating the connection between wood, fabric, and the hands that shape them. A reflection on slowing down, making with intention, and creating things that are built to last.
