Vintage Conch Shell Table Lamp on Walnut Base

A striking vintage spider conch shell lamp raised on a shaped solid walnut plinth. The shell is a big, handsome specimen, its outer lip drawn out into six long tapering spines, ridged and stained with rust and umber. Lit from behind, the whole shell warms to apricot and cream and glows along the aperture.

Rewired in West Sussex, PAT tested and in good working order, so it can be used straight away. Two of the spine tips carry old losses and there are small chips along the lip, congruent with the age. It sits well on a hall table or at the end of a bookcase.
