Victorian Mahogany Barley Twist Dressing Mirror
Taxes inclues
A Victorian mahogany dressing mirror, estimated to date from the third quarter of the 19th century. The arched plate sits in a rounded moulded mahogany frame and swings between a pair of barley twist supports, each capped with a ring turned collar and a ball finial. Both supports stand on a serpentine shaped platform base with a moulded edge.
The mirror plate is original, with light foxing and spotting to the silvering. The mahogany has darkened to a deep red brown and carries the knocks and marks of ordinary use. The plate tilts smoothly on its pivots and holds its position.
