Antique Oak Display Cabinet with Original Glass Doors

The cabinet was fully restored in our West Sussex workshop by experienced restorers. The original chestnut sides were replaced with solid oak boards, selected and worked to sit naturally with the rest of the piece. The silhouette was subtly refined at the base to improve proportion, while respecting the original language of the cabinet. The top was revised, and the entire piece was refinished in a contemporary finish that allows transparency in the grain, with a natural sheen and deep, organic tones. New solid brass hinges and knobs with beaded detailing were fitted, chosen to add a gentle contrast and a considered decorative note. The original lock was repaired and retained, and the doors were carefully aligned so they close cleanly and securely. Throughout the process, the focus remained on improving structure, function, and longevity without erasing the character that made the cabinet worth preserving.

This is a versatile and timeless piece that works beautifully as a display cabinet in a living room, dining room, or hallway. The original glass softens whatever is placed inside, making it equally suited to books, ceramics, glassware, or collected objects.
